Oregon Quarterly regularly works with freelance writers, photographers, and designers on story ideas identified by the magazine, and we occasionally accept original pitches. We value features with shape and depth, closer in conception and execution to a thoughtful essay than to a newspaper feature. In our storytelling we strive to involve the reader and awaken the imagination.
We seek stories that demonstrate the positive impact of the university and its people on the campus, state, and society. We also publish pieces that celebrate the talents, accomplishments, creativity, and character of our alumni, students, faculty, and staff.
Please consult our archives to get more of the flavor of our storytelling.
If you’ve got a compelling story idea, please email Matt Cooper, managing editor. Payment varies depending on the scope of the assignment.
